The FEI Phenom.ed unit is low kV table-top SEM that is currently under development. Given the on-going development and testing work, few details will be provided. However, the majority of the work on the Phenom.ed will be related to the development of education modules for deployment in K-12 and undergraduate settings.
The design of the unit makes it an ideal candidate for transportation to remote settings, as well as a potential unit for industrial partners.

A simulator is also underdevelopment for off-line education modules. The simulator was demonstrated at the 2006 MS&T conference in Cincinnati for over 300 high school students.

The Phenom.ed Unit at OSU represents the first commercial sale and delivery by FEI. Installation was completed in October 2006.
