Current Research
John is currently making an effort to become involved with as many aspects of the Fraser Group as possible. He done work on stereology procedures in an attempt to improve the efficiency of feature finding algorithms and has consequently become much more experienced with the use of the certain software products such as Adobe Photoshop for data analysis purposes.

John has also become involved with software management within the group as well as IT operations and web development. With the help of Dan Huber, he recently performed maintanence on the existing CAMM website and also significantly development the private section of the CAMM website which provides Fraser Group members with tools and links which help to increase both productivity and organization.

In other areas, he has become fully trained on all Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs) available to the Fraser Group and has also begun to become more experienced with the Focused Ion Beams (FIBs). Use of the FIBs will extend from the preparation of TEM samples to three-dimensional, orientation-image-mapped, reconstructions. He also plans to work on developing scripts for the FIBs to allow some of its projects to be automated.

Furthermore, he has worked with Dr. Arda Genc and Dr. Srini Rajagopalan with the use of Multislice, a method which has been used to provide commercial programs developed by Dr. Earl Kirkland which can be used to simulate high-resolution HAADF STEM images. These simulations have been and will be used to compare to actual experimental high resolution HAADF STEM images. His experience on the projects is utlizied to create crystallographic coordinate files using MATLAB, which can be injected into the Multislice programs to produce the afore mentioned simulations.

He also plans to shortly begin work on his potential eventual thesis topic involving the development of titanium alloys.

John has been admitted into the BS/MS program at The Ohio State Univeristy and has begun work with Dr. Hamish Fraser as a Graduate Research Associate. The BS/MS program allows him to double-count up to 15 credit hours from his undergraduate work towards his graduate, and vice-versa. He plans to receive his BS sometime in 2009. Following this, he plans to take the candidacy exam to receive his Master's and subsequently move on to later earn his Ph.D.

John has very broad interest range when it comes to music. He enjoys many genres including rock, hip-hop, and dance. When it comes to complete free time, he enjoys movies, some video games and upkeep on his apartment.
